You finally arrived in your new room for the year… But it feels a bit too white? Impersonal? Unwelcoming? Here are just a few ideas on how to make your new room feel like home. For this post, we have partnered with Kenzo Decor, which is a blog that we love with tons of inspiration for decorating any space!
1. Pictures
As soon as you’re a little settled in your new room, it’s time to make it a little more personal with some pictures! Simply select some of your favourite pictures from your phone or computer and print them at a local photo store or pharmacy!

2. Customized jars
Don’t throw away your sauce jars, we are going to give them a second life! After washing them out, use your nail polishes to draw dots, stripes, or any other pattern on the exterior of the jars. You can now use them to store your cotton pads, pencils, coins or anything you’d like! You can even use them as decoration by adding some fairy lights!

3. Flags
This can be the flag of your home country, your host country, or really any other flag you like! Flags (especially local ones) can often be found for a decent price and they take up a large portion of your wall, making it a whole lot more cozy! A huge plus: It’s easy to take them back home after your exchange!

4. Postcards
Collect postcards wherever you go or simply display the postcards that your friends and family might have sent you! You can easily attach these to your wall, by using some reusable adhesive gum!

5. Plants
Plants are great to give life to your room! You can buy a colorful flower, a cute set of mini cacti, or a practical aloe - it has great medical properties and asks for little attention. Even if you don’t have a green thumb, there is plant for you out there!
